Linux 9.04 Sound & Driver problem for HP HDX 16

It’s been days since i used Windows . I got addicted to Ubuntu 8.* . It has got almost all the features. I decided to try Ubuntu 9.* version . I was completely devasted . It supported neither my sound nor my graphics card . I found that Ubuntu 9.* version does not support drivers for most sound & graphics card . After browsing for many hours , finally found a tweak

For making sound to work in Ubuntu 9.04 for Hp HDX you have to edit the

You have to be the root to edit the file.

sudo su ( Will make u the root)

gedit /etc/modprobe.b/alsa-base.conf

Add the following line

options snd-hda-intel model=hp-m4

Now restart your system . You will hear the drum sound of Ubuntu during login 🙂

Ubuntu 9.04 does not support Nvidia drivers . So Nouveau is an alternate to it .It offers 3d acceleration for Nvidia cards . It’s open source

To install it Go to System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager

Search : nouveau

From the list install xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

After installation right click on desktop and select Visual Effects tab & enable graphics support . It will automatically detect the driver & install the nouveau .

Restart you system . You can start enjoying the beautiful effects of Compiz
